‘Friends’ of same-sex marriage case ask Supreme Court to intervene

Supporters on both ends of the same-sex marriage debate have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and settle the question of whether states can outlaw gay-marriage once and for all. For the plaintiffs: Several gay-rights organizations, 15 states and 30 businesses submitted friend-of-the-court briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday, urging the justices to take up Utah’s marriage case and rule in favor of the three same-sex couples fighting to legalize gay-marriage nationwide.
