Mr. Stein countered my radical proposal by expressing a tentative willingness to lower the corporate tax rate a few percentage points. The program host then read an astute listener’s email, stating that even a much lower tax rate, like 10 percent, would still be unfair, because some corporations would find ways to have Congress carve out exceptions and exemptions that would unfairly reduce their liability vis-à -vis their competitors. I agree. This reinforces my contention that the only truly fair rate is zero.
